Backpacking trip to Gandikota & Belum caves | Sumeru Trekkers

Gandikota is a village on the right bank of the river penna, 15km from jammalamudugu in kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Gandikota area was first identified and made Sand fort in 1123 by Kapa Raja of nearby Bommanapalle village and a subordinate of Ahavamalla Someswara I.
The Belum Caves is the largest and longest cave system open to the public on the Indian subcontinent, known for its speleothems, such as stalactite and stalagmite formations. The Belum Caves have long passages, galleries, spacious caverns with fresh water and siphons. This cave system was formed over the course of tens of thousands of years by the constant flow of underground water.

Itinerary:
Day 0
Start journey from Mumbai for Tadiptari by Chennai Express by 08:30 P.M.

Day 01 :
Will reach at Tadipatri by 12:00 noon and have breakfast / lunch and proceed to Gandikota by a private Non a/c vehicle. Later, we check in to the hotel and freshen Up. Now, our actual Gandikota tour starts. We, first visit the Mylavaram Dam near Gandikota Fort, as we set out to explore one of the most unique places in India – Gandikota – The Grand Canyon of India. ! Enjoy the scenic sunset at the gorge of the River Pennar. Later, we come back to the hotel and enjoy some group games, which are followed by a discussion session and then, retire to the bed. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02 :
Will wake up early in the morning and start exploring the Gandikota fort, Ranganathswamy Temple, Madhavraya Temple & other ruins. Then, we come back to hotel and check out. After that, we proceed towards Belum Caves in Kurnool district. Explore India’s largest underground caves-Belum caves.
By evening proceed to Tadipatri railway station. We, board the train by 06:45 pm.

We will reach Mumbai by 02:30 pm
