This person started his career in music at the age of 8. At this tender age, he performed on the stage. An Amritsari Lad and an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, he gave his voice to songs like Chaiyya Chaiyya that brought him The Best Male Playback title at 1999 Filmfare award. I am talking about none other than Sukhwinder Singh. With his powerful voice, he is rocking the Bollywood. Here are 7 facts about Sukhwinder Singh that you might not know.

#1.With a career spanning over 25 years, Sukhwinder Singh had sung for many great actors and has a number of very powerful tracks to his name.  Songs like Bolo Har Har from Shivaay, Bismil from Haider and the energy pumping title track of Chak de India are some of his contributions to the Bollywood.

#2.His song Jai Ho, composed by AR Rehman won an Academy Award for Best Original and also has a Grammy to his name. In 2014 he was also honoured with the National Award for best male playback singer for the movie Haider.

#3.Sukhwinder got his break as a singer from the film Karma where he got few lines to sing. Followed by the Madhuri Dikshit starrer movie Khilaaf, in which he sang the hit song “Aa Ja Sanam”.

#4.Even though he was a methodical singer, his efforts went unnoticed at the initial part of the career. So he decided to take a sabbatical and move to UK and America to broaden his musical horizon. On his return, he sang for a number of big Bollywood films like Taal, Biwi No 1, 1947 Earth, Daag, Jaanwar, Dillagi, Moksha, Tere Naam, Chak De! India and much more.

#5.He provided playback for many Bollywood superstars, including Shah Rukh Khan, for whom he sang a total of 7 songs. The title track of Chak De! India was widely appreciated.

#6.The title track of Salman Khan’s movie Sultan was also play backed by Sukhwinder Singh. Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor are some other actors for whom Sukhwinder Singh provided playback.

#7.He also had the privilege to work with some of the legends of the music industry like Gulzar, A R Rehman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The 46-year-old singer is yet to be married and plans to settle by this year.
