Skandagiri, also historically known as Kalwarbetta or Kalavara Durga, is a mountain fortress located around 70 km from Bangalore. This tiring yet rewarding trek takes you through a spectacular journey amidst the wilderness. Starting from Bangalore, you'll reach the base point where the sunrise trek begins.

The serene and sublime atmosphere around Skandagiri will boost your adrenaline to a whole new level. This 8 km trek can be completed within 4 hours of ascending and descending. Tried and tested by both amateurs and professionals, this moderately difficult trek is a must for all thrill seekers.

The climb gets challenging as you reach the Papagni Temple, navigating treacherous terrains amidst dense shrubs. From this point, the steep climb may require tricky footwork until you reach the summit.

At the top, you'll find the ruined remains of Tipu Sultan’s fortress and an abandoned fort. Skandagiri is famous for the surreal experience of walking above the clouds, literally!

Note : Booking at 11.30pm slots will be considered as next day morning 4.00am entry for without transport.

Itinerary

Day 0

Depart from Chennai for an overnight journey at 3:00 PM.

Day 1

Arrive at the private cafe (if open) and relax for an hour.
Reach the base camp at 3:30 AM to begin the trek.
By 5:30 AM, reach the peak and relish the breathtaking sunrise.
Explore the surroundings and enjoy panoramic views from the summit.
Begin the descent by 7:30 AM.
Have breakfast at 9:00 AM and commence the return journey to Bangalore.
Arrive in Bangalore by 11:30 AM.

Persons suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or carrying out illegal activities within the site may be searched.

In certain circumstances, HighApe reserves the right to cancel the tickets owing to any internal reason which requires such action. In such cases, the customer will be provided full refund for the ticket within 7-10 working days.
