A Gujarati born and brought up in Calicut, Kerala, she started singing at the age of 5 and is in her 28th year of stage singing. Ekta has done playback for Hindi, Bhojpuri and Kannada albums and also performed for Doordarshan channel. Ekta is the only professional Gujarati singer in South India and with over 1700 shows to her credit, she also now produces and directs her own musical shows under the banner of Ekta's Productionz and is the pioneer in Bangalore in conducting musical workshops for passionate singers.
