The rap culture in India is currently surfing on a gigantic wave of popularity. In a short span of time, it has coursed from being unexplored to full of variety and rawness. The new breed of rappers like DIVINE, Raftaar, Emiway, Bohemia are ruling the streets with their indigenous style of rapping and hip-hop music. The emergence of numerous independent rappers on YouTube is a testament to the budding interest in this arena of word battles.
Taking cue from this, Antaragni is proud to introduce it's first ever edition in its arsenal, the 'Battle Rap'. The event's preliminary stage consists of a Showcase round, wherein the participant will perform a pre-prepared rap performance, followed by Rap Battle round where the contestants will be pitted against each other in a one-on-one battle of words.
While the first round is a great way to introduce your talent to the crowd, the second round paves the way to win them over, and blow away the opponent using hard disses. The winners will get a chance to perform in front of the enthusiastic Antaragni crowd at IIT Kanpur.
The Competition: Stage 1: Prelims
We would conduct road-trips in over 7 cities throughout the nation for the preliminary round of battle rap. A lineup of 8-10 finest rappers are chosen from the city for each trip based on the videos they send us through the registration. The winning participant from each city is selected for the finale at Antaragni, IIT Kanpur
Stage 2: Battle Rap Finalé
The winners of the prelims, shortlisted from all over India compete in front of a crowd of over 10,000 for prizes worth over 2 lakh including numerous goodies, and Recording Deals provided by our esteemed partners.
