Thakara is an Alternative Ambient Folk-Rock band that has a strong political and social conscience. The band has emerged as a unique voice that uses music to make a statement about the layman's socio-political views.

This feisty and talented band, fronted by James Thakara, captured Kerala's attention in early 2012.

From political commentaries like 'Koran's anthem' (the promo song "GvQ" for the movie Koothara - a song about the great Indian political circus released during the general elections in 2014 ) to clarion calls for humanity like "Puttu Paattu", this movement opens a new door for music as a tool for cultural/social/political engagement.

No wonder then, that they are a college crowd and festival favorite in South India - as they represent the voice of the youth and the common man.
