Kunaal Gurbaxani aka GURBAX is one of the most fresh & ubiquitous DJ/producers in the Indian electronic music scene. From metal-head to bass-head, his journey started in the city of Bengaluru where he played guitar in punk rock and thrash metal bands. Moving to Atlanta for college was like a blessing for him since it was there that he discovered his love for bass music. “It really was an easy transition" he says, "They both encompassed my love for heavy music, however, I could never really relate to the metal culture of angst and destruction. With the bass scene, on the other hand, it was more than just the music – there was a sense of family in the underground culture of pure energy, love and happiness that really resonated with me and drew me in”.
GURBAX has now gathered over 16 Million+ plays on YouTube alone, hit #1 on the Indian iTunes Electronic Music Charts with his track ‘Aghori', played on almost every major Indian music festival stage including Vh1 Supersonic, NH7 Weekender, TimeOut72,etc. as well as tour internationally at ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) & the US. Not to mention share the stage with a range of well-reputed artists such as Steve Aoki, Wiz Khalifa, Marshmello, NGHTMRE, Slander, Troyboi, Herobust, ATLiens, David Satori (Beats Antique), Christina Novelli, Spag Heddy, Hang Massive, GANZ, JSTJR, Fabian Mazur, LUUDE and GAUDI to name a few.
Kampai is the solo project of Bangalore-based Rumit Virmani who plays electronic music, which has a heavy emphasis on bass. Primarily a Bass music enthusiast, Kampai also blurs the lines between different genres like Jersey club, Future Beats, Hi Hop, Breaks, Drum and Bass, forward thinking trap or afro house to make sure that his sets are always quirky. Kampai is always up for pushing boundaries in the Indian electronic music scene through experimentation in his sets and finds inspiration in an assortment of different sounds and genres.
In his musical career, Kampai has shared stage with Troyboi (LDN), Herobust (USA), QUIX (NZ), Wuki (US), Ganz (EU), Bok Bok (LDN) and Chimpo (UK) to name a few, as well as his peers from India's own burgeoning music scene such as NUCLEYA, Gurbax, Sickflip, _RHL, Oceantied, Spryk, Malfnktion, Komorebi etc. Over a very short time span, played at noteworthy venues across the country and has also played for properties and festivals like Run The Trap, VH1 Supersonic Club nights + official festival afterparty, Bass Camp Festival, NUCLEYA Sub Cinema tour, NH7 Weekender pre party etc.
Aside from music, he has also been hard at work advancing the Indian music scene in different ways. While he was working at Social Offline, Bangalore he pioneered and introduced properties such as BASSICK Sense and The Grind etc. He also works not with Foxtrot as a music programming manager and promoter. His expertise also lies in programming and curating club nights by tying up with international properties and artists alike. Kampai tries to be truly unique every time he takes the stage.
