REProduce Listening - Koramangala Social

Saturday 04:00 PM - Koramangala Social · Koramangala · Bangalore

REProduce Listening Venue at KoramangalaSocial **Free Entry Holy Shit** After months of deliberation, we’ve decided to bring the REProduce Listening Room experience to the hallowed halls of an arena that has been down for a while, but the timing just didn’t feel right, and timing is, of course, everything. On Saturday, November 19th, Delhi-based music collective REProduce Artists will debut something a little different - the Listening Venue - where we take over the prime artefact of Impersario’s bid to change the landscape of live music in India: Social. The series aims to fill a gap in the ever iterating and increasingly varied community of live music in India by showcasing talent that might not get heard in the more mainstream oriented venues. Listening Venue will focus purely on the music – in a space where an audience can absorb sound on their own terms. This first edition of Listening Venue will maintain the uncompromising nature of the curation we do, but in the space that the new Koramangala presents - across both floors - and will do so over seven Bangalore based acts, varying from doom, left field electronica, death metal, hip hop inspired beats, the seamless subliminal, and the gloriously unclassifiable. Of course almost half of these dudes are part of the Consolidate crew because that just makes sense. SOULSPACE (Bangalore) I think I first met Vishnu at Bandstand in Delhi - but it was “loud” so I don’t remember the conversation very well. The next time we met was probably at PCRCs studio where I was playing the role of a kidnapped American for this video that we were going to use for a crowdfunding bid to get them to SXSW. He ended up being casted as someone who was about to be killed. Disco Puppet (Bangalore) I can’t tell. The first time I saw him he seemed super awkward, but this was at Blue Frog so maybe that is par for the course - or maybe it was because I was in the smoking area and I was watching him from behind, maybe that was why it seemed awkward. I liked it a lot though. Then the next time was when I booked him in Pune, which was pretty cool, but I think I finally got his deal when he played the LR at Coral in Bombay. He saw the place and was like “nope not gonna use the drums” which was instinctive, and of course, one should always trust their instincts. He’s yet to see the spot so we’re not sure if he’ll use a kit or but I’ve seen him do it both ways and you win regardless. Rogue Atari (Bangalore) "Yo Ari is nuts" Djinn & Miskatonic (Bangalore) I don’t play guitar but if you ask anyone who has seen me play guitar usually what happens is that I detune the guitar until the strings are like overcooked spaghetti, put it close to the amp as I can, turn everything all the way up, and then make it go “ZONNGGG ZONNGGG ZONNGGG”. Aerate Sound (Bangalore) I just read the bio I wrote for the last time Aerate Sound did these sessions - did I write that? It’s weird how in like a few months someone’s deal can change that much. I used words like “voice” and “optic”. I haven’t seen these dudes in a while but I told most people I know to go to the show they played at Bonobo in Bombay some time back, and I guess they were amazing. Figures. Worms' Cottage (Bangalore) Never met him. I just heard that release with the wolf on the cover and thought it was super weird and listened to it a lot. Antakrit (Bangalore) There’s a video of Deicide on YouTube where this bald guy in a bowtie introduces them with Glen Benton kinda sounding and looking like a WWE wrestler. Then the bald guy leaves the camera frame and the rest of the performance - “Sacrificial Suicide” of course - borders on pure comedy, but then they are so brutal that’s its hard to tell whether to laugh or play air guitar and make scary faces.
