Day 0
Day 1
Day 2
Kattinahole is the base camp where Kodachadri trek route starts & is also the place where our homestay is located. The homestay is just a few hundred metres from the jeep stand & offers a beautiful view of the hill standing before you. After arriving at the homestay, get fresh, grab some quick breakfast & stock up snacks & ample water before you set-off for the trek.
Your trek guide will give you a brief about the trek, do's & don'ts, and general safety tips. The total trek distance till the peak is 12 Km & takes around 4.5 to 6 hours to complete.
There are 6 major milestones on the Kodachadri trek trail with the first among them being the log bridge on which you'll cross the stream before you enter the jungle.
From here it is a slightly up hill walk till your second milestone- the open meadow where you get to see a 360° view of the surrounding hills. This is also where the buttermilk shop is located. Quench your thirst by gulping down a glass or two of buttermilk here & move along the paddy fields behind the shop.
A short walk from here will take you to the third milestone & the most awaited part of the trek- Hidlumane falls. It is a real spectacle to watch & is the major highlight of the Kodachadri trek. Enjoy in the waters of the plunge pool formed by the falls before you continue your trek to the next milestone- jeep track.
This part of the trek is a little challenging as the climb is steep, but the views you get to see at the end of this part will make all your effort worth it. Once you cross the jungle & reach the grasslands, enjoy a quick rest & admire the view of the valley you get to see from here. Another short walk of around 10-15 mins from here will take you to the Kodachadri jeep track.
Continue on the jeep track for 2 kms till you find the Mookambika temple & the PWD guesthouse. This is the fifth major milestone on the trek route & also where you'll board the jeep back to homestay on your descend. Further 2 kms from here is the summit of Kodachadri where Sarvajna Peeta is located & where the trek ends. Sarvajna peeta is dedicated to the 8th century theologian & philosopher Shri Adi Shankaracharya & the legend is that he meditated here to seek the blessings of goddess Mookambika & she appeared before him here. There is also a cave temple known as Ganesh Guha just a few hundred metres before you reach the peak.
Rest your feet & soak-in the beautiful vibes of Kodachadri's sunset & give yourself a pat on your back for completing the trek before you head back to the PWD guest house to board the jeep for your return journey to the homestay.
Sip some garam chai & get fresh. Huddle up for the campfire with your fellow trekkers, play some fun games, have dinner & call it a day.
Included Activities - Jeep Ride
Meals Included - Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Wake up to the chirping of birds, take a leisurely stroll around the homestay & fuel upon breakfast before you pack your bags to begin your journey back. Visit Nagara fort, around 20 km away from Kodachadri. Though this 16th century fort is in ruins now, it was once the stronghold of the Keladi rulers. The fort is also known by the name of Shivappa Nayaka fort & Bidanuru fort. It is nice place to click some great photos besides being an interesting place to visit for history buffs.
