After 27 editions of his radio show “Dynamite Disco Club” on India’s first online electronic music community radio “boxout.fm", Stalvart John is taking his radio show into club and dance music scene in Bangalore.
Dynamite Disco Club is a community for Disco and House music curated by Stalvart John. Dynamite Disco Club takes a closer look at the roots of soul, funk, disco, and house. It’s a chance to go back to the basics of Chicago house, Detroit funk, and Philly soul scene while keeping it fresh with some of the best new ideas. The radio show started airing on boxout.fm on 3rd Thursday of every month from April 2017 and completed 27 episodes till now.
About Stalvart John - Stalvart John found his home in electronic music about a decade back when he discovered artists like Fatboy Slim, Prodigy, and Robert Miles. After taking the plunge into dance music, he found appreciation from audiences across the globe in no time thanks to his radio shows which include Frisky Radio (NY), Afterhours FM (SFO), Tenzi.fm (India), IMRTD Worldwide (NY), Powermix fm Radio (UK) and Radio Schizoid (Mumbai), 1worldtrance among many others.
Stalvart have a monthly radio show at India's first electronic music community radio boxout.fm called "Dynamite Disco Club". This show takes listeners to take a closer look at the roots of soul, funk, disco and house. It’s a chance to go back to the basics of Chicago house, Detroit funk and Philly soul scene while keeping it fresh. He also launched his own “Dynamite Disco Club” nights which have become a regular feature in major Indian cities.
Known for his deeper take on dance music and his unconventional attitude, he contributed to the initial uprising of Kerala’s electronic music scene with a series of gigs in Club 1100 Ramada Resort, Ava Lounge Dream Hotel Cochin, Lagoon - Le Meridien, V-Bar Hilton Garden Inn (Trivandrum). In order to pursue his passion, Stalvart had to move out of Kerala when the music scene got abruptly cut short by the prohibition.
After shifting base to Bangalore in early 2015, he started finding a new comfort zone in his Disco and House Music which has earned him showcases at some of the top venues like Humming Tree, High Spirits, Bluefrog, Social Offline, Summer House Cafe.
Today, Stalvart is a regular feature at the country’s best festivals such as Magnetic Fields & Go:Madras.
With way too many ideas to express, the jump from DJ to producer was imminent - with a debut release on one of India's finest labels "Wind Horse Records". He then went on to release on German Label "Mind Field Records" on a compilation featuring the likes of like Paul Hartnoll (one half of the legendary Orbital), Norwell amidst other established names. His release on Wind Horse Records got encouragement from Richie Hawtin (Minus), Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn, Miss Nine (Armada), David Marston (Wolf + Lamp) and many more. “Thabo Mbeki” on legendary Alexander Robotnick’s label Hot Elephant music received traction from critics around the globe.
Opening for acts like Bill Brewster, Horse Meat Disco, Zero 7, Jayda G, Byron The Aquarius, Sassy J, Kim Ann Foxman, Young Marco, El_Texf_A, Brassica, Isolee, Liquid Soul, Sebastian Brandt, Dub Fx and many more.
About Jonathan - Jonathan, who started to DJ back in 2006, has been associated with music from the time he can remember. Garnering knowledge, he owes his musical roots to his family who has always been actively present in the live music scene.
Over the years, his love for dance music resulted in him experimenting with House music and its various subgenres. He has been a keen admirer of the deeper elements and loves switching between vocal, melodic & minimal personas. Although he stresses on the fact that he doesn’t feel the need to be bound by the genres of music and loves giving everything a go.
In this time, he has had the opportunity to share the console with the best artists in & out of the country; Praveen Achary (India), Vinayaka (India), Jinxxa (Germany), Nina & Malika (India), Get Massive (India) to name a few. Also he featured at the well acclaimed ‘God’s Own Music Festival’ in 2014 which was Kerala’s Premier Music Festival showcasing underground music with National & International Artists.
Jonathan has been a known name in the Club circuit for quite some time. Based out of Cochin, he has held residencies at Swirl (The Gateway Hotel, Cochin) and Blu Rock (Olive Downtown, Cochin) for the last couple of years. In addition to that, it has lead to him playing around some of the top clubs in & out of the state; Bike & Barrel (The Residency Towers, Coimbatore), Zanzibar (Bangalore), Tavern Ale
(Bangalore), Twist (Vivanta by Taj, Trivandrum), Ava Lounge (Radisson Blu, Cochin), Skygrill (Crowne Plaza, Cochin).
He also curates a Podcast called “Sunday Brunch” on Mixcloud where he experiments with House, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance and a bit of Techno. His online presence has garnered him quite a number of listeners around the country and has gathered him a following. His influences vary on a wide scale. Often drawing inspiration from the likes of Joris Voorn, Roger Sanchez, Lane 8, Eric Prydz, Jon Hopkins, Sebastian Leger & Jody Wisternoff.
His eagerness and understanding of music keeps pushing his boundaries to know more and work harder to showcase the music he loves.
