Torna fort, the highest fort in Pune. It is to the south-west 75 Kms from Pune. The fort can be divided into four different parts based on geographical terrain and fortification. Torna is one of the most favoured treks around Pune. Being the tallest mountain of Pune district, this trek becomes challenging one.

Those who want to shift towards slightly tough treks, Torna fort trek is ideal. From the historical point of view, this fort is important because it was the first fort won by Shivaji Maharaj. Also, it is said that during repairs of the fort Shivaji Maharaj found pots full of gold coins. This money helped in the construction of Rajgad fort.

Torna Fort, also known as Prachandagad, is a large fort located in Pune district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is historically significant because it was the first fort captured by Shivaji Maharaj in 1643, at the age of 16, forming the nucleus of the Maratha empire. The hill has an elevation of 1,403 metres (4,603 ft) above sea level, making it the highest hill-fort in the district. The name derives from Prachanda (Marathi for huge or massive) and gad (Marathi for fort).

The way to the top is moderate to difficult, with some precautions to be taken in the rainy season. It is a two- or three-hour climb to the 'BiniDarwaaja', the main entrance to the fort. Britishers said "If Sinhagad fort is lion's den then Torna is Eagles Nest. Two machines namely Budhla Machi & Zunjar Machi are main attractions.

Itinerary:

Day 1:

For Pune Participants: Departure at 11 pm. From  Pune  (3hrs journey for base village).

Day 2 :

Reach base @3 am. Rest in the bus till 4:30 am.

Wake up and Fresh and up and have Breakfast.

Start the Trek by 5:30 am. (3 hrs trek).

Reach fort by 8:30 am.

Enjoy the view of the surrounding, Balekilla, machi, temple, etc.

Lunch (veg) - 2 pm.after descending.

Start the return Journey towards Pune by 3:30 pm.

Reach Pune by 7:00 pm.

We may come an hour early or late.

5) A sweater/warmwear/rainwear.

6) Wear comfortable clothing during treks (full sleeves).

7) Good trekking/sports shoes (sandals, chappals, floaters not permitted).

8) Torch with Extra pair of Batteries (must)

9) Camera, Binocular (Optional)

10) Identity proof (must).

11) Toiletries (Napkin, facewash, tissue paper etc.).

12) Cap, goggles, sunscreen, moisturizer, mosquito repellent etc.

13) Sleeping bag/mat/bedsheet.(Rentals available on demand) in the case of camping.

14) Slippers (optional - at the end of day/trek so that your feet can relax)
