Journeying Across The Himalayas is a first-of-its-kind multidisciplinary festival celebrating stories of and from the Himalayan region. Designed to bring together travellers, artists, and mountain communities, the festival unfolds through installations, exhibitions, performances, culinary explorations, workshops, and interactive experiences spanning art, music, dance, theatre, and more.
This year’s theme, “Ours to Tell,” invites you to experience the Himalayas as a living archive—where stories, identities, and traditions are reclaimed, reinterpreted, and retold by the communities to whom they truly belong.
Begin your journey at the festival’s heart, where monks from Namgyal Monastery will create a live Sand Mandala—an ancient sacred art form rarely witnessed outside monastery walls.
Discover immersive exhibitions such as:
-
“Hub of Many Heart(h)s” – conversations on conservation, responsible tourism, and cultural safeguarding
-
“The Himalayan Knot: A Journey Through Pashmina” – an experimental collection exploring Pashmina’s intersection with jamdani weaving
-
“Echoes of the East” – celebrating Northeast India’s rich intangible cultural heritage
Indulge in authentic Himalayan flavours at The Thap, a space dedicated to traditional cuisine and culinary storytelling. Explore workshops for all ages that offer hands-on learning across crafts, culture, and sustainability.
As evening descends, the festival comes alive with performances from across the mountains—Balti Ghazals, Uttarakhand’s folk-fusion ensemble The Pandavaas, Arunachal singer-songwriter Chorun Mugli, and the dynamic Thoda Archery Dance.
Engage with the region’s lived narratives through curated film screenings, collect handcrafted treasures at The Himalayan Bazaar, and join conversations that inspire dialogue, reflection, and deeper connection.
