Journey to the southern state of Karnataka to discover the incredible ruins of medieval Hampi,the rock cut caves of Badami and the beautiful temples of Pattakal and Aihole.Hampi is nestled within the ruins of medieval city of Vijayanagar in the state of Karnataka,on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. Set in a surreal and beautiful boulder-strewn landscape,Vijayanagara (the City of Victory) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and although the city was destroyed bymarauding Moghul invanders in the 16th century, much of it remains today.Ancient ruins that are spread over 26 sq km area,many of which lie in and around Hampi Bazaar and the nearby riverside area, which also encompasses the city’s most sacred enclave of temples and ghats. East of Hampi Bazaar is the UNESCO-listed 16th century Vittala Temple, the undisputed highlight of the ruins.Set in beautiful countryside amongst sandstone hills, lakes and peaceful farmlands, Badami is magnificently situated in a canyon, and scattered amongst the surroundings hills are temples, fortifications and carvings.Badami is best known for its remarkable cave temples. They display the full range of Indian religious sects.Two of them are dedicated to Vishnu, one to Siva and the fourth is a Jain temple. There is also a Buddhist temple in a natural cave.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1 : Thursday
Assemble at Yogi hotel chembur at 5.30 pm & we board the bus to Hospet. Its a 15.00Hrs journey overnight in bus. (AC SLEEPER COACH)
Day 2. (Hampi) Friday
Reach Hospet early morning and leave for hampi in pvt vehicle. check in at our hotel fresh n up, have breakfast and leave for full day excursion to
(Vijayanagar Empire from 1335 – 1565 - the ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed as the group of Monuments at Hampi) Virupaksha Temple Hampi Bazaar, Kodanda Rama temple, Achutaraya temple, Yantroddaraka, chakra thirta, Purandara Mantap, old bridge, King Balance, Vittal Temple, Stone chariot, Musical Pillars, Vittal bazaar, Lotus Mahal, Watch tower, Elephant Stable, Guards Barrat, underground temple, Pattabirama temple, Bheema gate, Ganagitthi Jain Temple, Queens Bath ,Mahanavami Dibba, Aqueduct, Pushkarni, Secret Chamber, Hazara Rama Temple, Ugra Narashimha, Badavi Linga, Krishna Temple, Mustered Ganesh, Pea Nut Ganesh Over Night @ Hotel.
Day 3 (Badami) Saturday
(Badami) UNESCO World heritage monuments - after breakfast drive to Banashankari, Badami cave Temples (temples are composed of four caves out of soft sand stone built in late 6th to 7th centuries ,the Chalukya architecture is a blend of Nagara and Dravidian style) Pattadakal, Mahakoota, Aihole sightseeing. Late evening enjoy sun set on the way back to Hampi. Over night @ Hotel.
Day 4 (Hampi) Sunday Matanga hilltop
Early morning 4am leave for Sun Rise point.A beautiful sunrise can be seen from Matanga Hill. There are steps to the western side of this hill. At the top of the hill there is the temple of Veer Bhuvaneswara. From the top of the hill one can see so many breath taking views of Tungabhadra River, Virupaksha Temple, Elephant Stable, the temple of Achyutaraya and many more. Later in the day go for CORACLE ride or also called as Tapa ride passes by various temples and beneath the rock. Evening drop @ Hospet from there we board a Ac sleeper Coach and leave for Mumbai with a Mater Piece memory, reach mumbai by 06.30 am.
