About Maulik

Spewed forth into this world at the beginning of the decade that bestowed audio cassettes & console games upon our generation, Maulik Shah first opened his eyes in a city with many names, Bombay (now called Mumbai) being what he most often likes to call it. He grew up just like almost every other 90s Indian kid, playing MS-DOS PC games, watching every other Bollywood film, knowing all their songs by heart and watching epic mythology TV shows every Sunday morning with his family.

After graduating as an IT Engineer in 2013, Maulik laid his academic ambitions to rest and chose to build upon his ever prevalent passion for music as a career choice. Since then he's not only continued to elevate himself as a DJ / Producer but also educated himself on tricks of the trade of the thriving underground music scene in the country by enrolling as an Artist Manager with the hottest promoters of house & techno music in India - sLick! - under the mentorship of - a DJ is formerly known as One Tribe - Prateek Pandey.

Maulik's sources of inspiration are a melting pot of people from all walks of life who have accomplished greatness through hard work rather than a privilege. His musical repertoire is just as much of a melting pot created by a rare amalgamation of genres like Bollywood, rap, heavy metal & trance, and skill sets such as playing keys and even the drums.

In his nascent career as a professional DJ, he has already managed to make appearances in all major cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Goa, Pune & Hyderabad with a cherry of an international gig in Kathmandu, Nepal, on top.

Maulik brings a plethora of experience to the console from sharing stage & playing alongside significant names in the global underground circuit. This list includes heavyweights such as

me, Rodriguez Jr., Marc Romboy, Sam Paganini, Jeremy Olander, H.O.S.H, Patrice Baumel & Guy J amongst many others.

In February 2017, Maulik, along with long time friend Joy Gohil, rolled out another musical project called 'Zapdos', which alternatively focuses on the Live side of electronic music, combining the raw force of electric guitars & keys blending seamlessly with loops of dreamy synth textures & poly-rhythmic percussions.

There's a lot more in store for Maulik this year as he turns his attention towards "studio time" in order to whip out original music, after a successful 2-year stint with sLick! as an incessant Artist Manager & touring DJ. Undeniably this is shaping up to be yet another career-defining year for Maulik.
