REProduce Listening Venue at sun set time would be Log Sabha and later moved to The Moonshine Project
Sunday, 26th August 2018, 6PM??
On Sunday, August 26th, New Delhi based music collective REProduce Artists will return to showcase a number of acts that we’ve had perform at our Listening Room series in a new venue for us, and relatively speaking, for Hyderabad: The Moonshine Project.
The series that inspires this intervention aims to fill a gap in the ever iterating and increasingly varied community of live music in India by showcasing talent that might not get heard in the more mainstream oriented venues. REProduce Listening Room focuses purely on the music – in a space where an audience can absorb sound on their own terms.
For this event, and given the support of Moonshine, we’ve been able to bring artists we love from Pune, Bombay, and Bangalore, along with local talent, all of whom will take over the terrace and main floor over a Sunday.
Also note just because there’s an order in the artist below or on the video or whatever it doesn’t mean that artists play in that order, people think that sometimes and then they bum out cos they missed whoever but you should know by now that your expectations will get you nowhere.
Dreamhour (Pune, India)
What could compel someone to dwell on musical tropes that predate their physical manifestation on Earth? Is it an exercise in nostalgia? Can nostalgia characterise an affinity for an imagine past as opposed to a lived experience embedded in memory and recollection? If not, perhaps nostalgia is a misnomer, and the sentiment is more embedded in fantasy? And, if it is indeed fantasy, does that make the association itself fantastic? I think Dreamhour is fantastic
Puru. (Hyderabad, India)
Here we have the first of two Hyderabad producers with four letter monikers and a period after the assertion. If you google “puru soundcloud” you’ll come across an apologetic Japanese producer, but thats not Kartikeya. No. I like his music cos a lot of is it are these really short little vignettes into some imagined character I am making up. I like those kinds of exercises a lot and the last time I was in Hyderabad was 2007, thats crazy and I should meet this guy so I can challenge my assumptions
Aniruddh Shivakumar Menon (Bangalore, India)
Super long face here. Have you seen it? I’ve only seen it in pictures. If I was one of those people that could draw caricatures well I’d totally draw him. In fact it could be cool to develop this microcosmos of characters that are all variations on his face. Kind of like…any cartoon pantheon? I mean at the end of the day you probably associate the style of the representation with the series itself, and that said style must have been inspired by something? Pretty sure he used to live in Dubai.
Disco Puppet (Bangalore, India)
I saw a video where he was wearing this interesting top - I couldn’t figure it out though, it was like…a long lapel that was draped over a shoulder with some sort of fastener? This is what stuck out in my mind and remains in my memory. It may be false. There is another image I have seen where he is wearing a brown sort of monk/wizard situation. What else…then I remember talking to him about trains, maybe chicken heads? I ate a bag of chicken feet once.
Robu. (Hyderabad, India)
Here we have the second Hyderabad producer with four letters and a period. He just IS. I mean, you don’t even know. He’s the noun and the adjective. In 28 languages. Say the word. We have developed P2P blockchain lending platforms that now serve over billions merely by the nature of the power of these four letters alone. Robucoin™ is for our future and the future futures of children who live in the future because we haven’t met them yet but that doesn’t mean they aren’t real.
Three Oscillators (Bombay, India)
Mumbai-based Brij Dalvi and Avit Rane are the duo behind Three Oscillators, one of the more forward-thinking groups making music in India right now. But then live, it's usually Brij alone. But then once I saw three of them in this closet on an ironing board. I guess it depends, ask Brij, I don't have an explanation sowwy
