What: A (T-I-Y) Troubleshoot-It-Yourself with the Help of Repair Coaches around You. Learn To Identify Repair Problems and Learning Will Be Incomplete Without Doing. Learn To Do Repair Yourself; Why: To Know The Right Questions In Order Not To Get Conned By Repair Persons?
Who: If you Are Inquisitive about Repair, You Could Be Anybody with Or without Repair Experience
Where: No Need To Travel Anywhere, do it sitting at Home, Get All The Consultations Virtually; How: You Need A Good Wifi Connection And A Laptop/Ipad
What is this virtual workshop about?
We shall be undertaking trouble-shooting of home electrical items and Laptops. This is would be a series of 3 sessions with a gap of 15 days. These sessions would be 1 hour each.
The First session where coaches will demonstrate: How to explain the repair problems? Possible tools and spares so on.
The Second and Third session will be where participants are expected to present their repair problems. They can do so by sending a video in advance explaining the problem for better preparedness. The relevant instructions will be given in the advance. This is an exploration and success is not based on how many repairs done but the effort made to learn. Many times it will be fruitless exercise and it is quite natural that you may feel frustrated at the end of process, therefore be ready to face failures.
This workshop provides one the opportunity to learn from others, while simply watching and making notes. Building up few tools and spares at Individual workspaces shall be the responsibility of the participant. You can attempt more than 2 trouble-shoot problems.
What Items can we possibly trouble-shoot?
1) Home electrical – (Iron box, toaster, spike buster, mixie, hairdryer and many other some such items)
2) Computers - While computers, i.e., desktop PCs and notebook (a.k.a. laptop) computers have become an essential productivity tool, most users don’t understand the working of computer hardware and software. Just like any other machine, computers too need routine maintenance and fail once in a while. Fortunately, many of the issues—either software or hardware—can be fixed. Further, computers tend to get obsolete much faster than other machines/appliances even though they entail a significant investment. Some of it is by design (by software makers), while some of it is owing to component ageing. As a result, we are compelled to replace entire computers much earlier than desired, resulting in massive amounts of e-waste that doesn’t get recycled effectively due to the complex electronic construction. Luckily, most computers (even the well-integrated notebooks) can be upgraded to extend their useful life—either through hardware upgrades or through software re-configuration or replacing the software with a lighter alternative. In this hands-on workshop, we will familiarize the participants with the common components of appliances and computers. We will discuss common failures and ways to troubleshoot and fix them. Finally, we will find a means to extend the life of your appliance or computers through maintenance, repairs or basic upgrades. We will also touch upon reliability, power consumption and data protection concerns and ways to improve them
