Naezy:
Naved Shaikh aka Naezy is a Mumbai rapper who dabbles in Hindi and Urdu lyrics. Naezy has quickly become a rising star in the Indian hip-hop scene, all thanks to his impressive flow and slang-inflected rhymes. Naved started his personal journey into the art form with The Schizophrenics, a hip-hop collective he formed with his friends from Khalsa College. In January 2014, he released ‘Aafat’ garnering over 450,000 views on YouTube. Aafat’s success was followed by ‘Raastey Kathin ’and a collaboration with Mode7 – Raffael Kalby’s solo project. Naezy also wrote for and performed ‘Birju’, the lead single from Ajay Chandok’s Hey Bro. In April 2015, Naezy took the country by storm with his definitive hit ‘Mere Gully Mein’ in collaboration withfellow Mumbai rapper Divine and Sez. Naezy’s story inspired filmmaker Disha Rindani to create a short film titled Bombay 70, which went on to win the Silver Gateway of India award for Best Short Film at the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI). Naezy intertwines his signature brand of lyrics and compositionsto highlight the problems that exist in city’s ghettos and to resonate with the outrage felt by the country’s youth with regard to class & culture barriers, religious differences, failing education systems and dearth of economic opportunities provided by the system. His biggest influences include Kendrick Lamar,Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Joey Bada$$, Snoop Dogg, Tech9, Eminem, Immortal Technique, Krs one, Wu tang He has performed at several music festivals and venues across the country including Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Stage42 .
Su. 1
Having been a part of the music scene and playing for over 9 years, Suvan Mathur aka Su.1 has performed in prominent venue's in Mumbai, Delhi, Goa and Bangalore during the vast 9 years. He has opened for artists of the likes of Skrillex (after party), DJ Whoo Kid, Mr Checks, Asian Dub Foundation (Peace concert in Munich) to name a few, and has often played for properties such as Adidas Originals, Vh1 Supersonic Club Nights, Stage 42, the Him hip-hop Project, etc. Having dabbled in production and with a keen ear, you can expect the best of hip-hop and new age trap raging the floor.
Smokey the Ghost:
Sumukh Mysore or Smokey is a rapper/music producer for Machas with attitude, he developed a distinctive style of multiple rhyming and is the master of in-line rhymes. Smokey was called one of India's Best lyricists
byDesiHipHop.com. He also produces music for the Machas With Attitude. His mixtape called "The Cellotape" was one of the most downloaded mixtapes in India and caused a stir in the underground music scene. Along with Rap/Hip Hop, Smokey is currently working at the The National Center for Biological Sciences as a Researcher. In this regard It was revealed, on June 16, 2012 that Smokey might be getting a patent in Biotechnology.
BIG DEAL
Big Deal aka Samir Rishu Mohanty hails from Puri, Orissa. He is born to a Japanese mother and Indian father but his upbringing has been at his Aunt's place. He completed his primary education in Puri and then moved on to complete his secondary education at St. Pauls School, Darjeeling.
Darjeeling, the queen of hills more known for its urban culture, introduced to him his high school sweetheart and later to be the love of his life, Hip Hop.
He started rapping at the age of 17 after watching the movie 8 mile. Inspired by the rawness and the sheer power of the freedom of expression, he began to pen down his own thoughts in the form of rhymes. In the beginning it was more of a way to stand out and gain attention but things got serious when he started using rap as a tool to vent.
His lyric predominantly focuses on uplifting lives and inspiring people to overcome everyday struggles. Each one of us has struggles, however big or small, and struggle is the only thing that keeps us at our feet grinding. It helps us get better and without it, our lives would lose meaning.
So he raps for that one kid with a dream in order to provide him enough inspiration to carry on and persevere regardless of the struggle that he faces.
