Pattachitra - literally meaning cloth painting. The simple word belies the rich complexity of this centuries-old religious art. Originating in Odisha, this art form traditionally depicts Hindu deities and other religious motifs on cotton cloth using vegetable, earth and stone colours.
The art of the Gods is coming to your homes this Sunday straight from the renowned artists' village of Raghurajpur. Spend two hours with an award-winning Pattachitra artist to observe the finer aspects of the art form. You have the chance to follow along as he depicts an image of Krishna with the traditional detailed touched. Please register soon to receive the outline of the piece so that you can prepare to learn the finer aspect of the art form along with the artist!
