Bananthimari Betta, or Maribetta or Karadibett, is a twin hillock surrounded by lush greenery and spectacular scenery. Bananthimari is made of two words: ‘Bananthi’ meaning ‘mother who is nursing a newborn’ and ‘mari’ meaning ‘the violent goddess’. It gets its name from Bananthimari Betta, from the temple that is situated at the base of the peak. Bananthimari Betta is a monolith, and the highest point is at 2090 feet.
